Parents’ Club Brainstorming Meeting: Minutes


Date: Sunday, September 27th, 2026

Time: 3:30pm

Attendees: Michele, Catherine, Kjersti, Kirsten, Nikki, Fanny, Jennifer, Jordana

 

Note: “Parents’ Club” is the correct spelling and form of the name.

Stakeholders

  • Anna and Jennifer K. are both stakeholders.
  • Anna initially had little input on the revised Parents’ Club (PC) charter.

Name and Charter

  • The PC is moving to change its name and charter.
  • The mission needs to be clarified.
  • Message for the EFC: “We’ve updated the PC charter, and with that we are changing our name.”

Revised Mission (First Draft)

  1. Foster communication and connection among parents, school staff, parish members, and the community.
  2. Establish meaningful traditions and ensure continuity of valuable school programs.
  3. Coordinate the assistance and service of grade parent volunteers.
  4. Provide a mechanism for parent education on current topics of interest.

Proposed for deletion: “To unite parents in a common appreciation of Catholic education and the need to be an advocate for the program.”

Focus areas: teacher appreciation, communication, and engagement.

Discussion Items

  • Mother/Father events are now scheduled for May.
  • Fundraising is still under discussion. What would the PC be fundraising for? Can this work alongside the commission’s fundraising events?
  • Bylaws: Do we have them? If not, they need to be drafted and posted on the website.
  • Speaker series as social/wellness events: Could the series double as a social event, community involvement, and/or a wellness event for parents? The commission is concerned about the number of parent asks and events.
  • “The Book” (Jennifer): Parent-led events, where parents bring both the idea and the execution. Jennifer will gather more details.

Speaker Series

  • The series will be renamed “Learning Lounge,” presented by the Parents’ Club.
  • The first Learning Lounge is on Disaster Preparedness, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
